Malaysian Kidnapped in Nigeira is Safe - Report
A Malaysian national, George Lipih Ambo, who was kidnapped with three others from a ship by a group of pirates off Guinea Bay in Nigeria on August 4, is reported to be safe.

According to Umno Youth's community complaints bureau chairman Datuk Muhd Khairun Aseh, information from a third party stated that the 42-year-old was working as an electrical technician on the ship owned by Sea Trucks Group.

"The bureau has proactively, since August 6, been communicating with the source at Lagos, Nigeria, who is acting as mediator, and assurance has been given by the group that the victim is well and unharmed.

"Negotiations are ongoing for his release," he told a news conference here Tuesday.
For security reasons, Muhd Khairun did not elaborate on the demands by the group to secure the victim's release.
